Coach Clancey

My name is Clancey, and I was a high-level competitive gymnast with Precizion 509 for many years through Level 9. Gymnastics has remained a passion of mine, and I love being able to teach the next generation this amazing sport! It truly motivates me to see young gymnasts push themselves beyond their limits and overcome obstacles. Gymnastics teaches so many life lessons, as well as builds character traits that last well beyond one’s gymnastics career. Many lessons I’ve learned from my coaches I carry with me through life, and to be able to have an impact like that on someone else’s life is truly a blessing.

When I was a gymnast, the floor was my favorite apparatus! I love the beauty of being able to express yourself through music, and the tumbling elements feel like you are flying! Nothing comes close to that feeling!

My favorite events to coach are beam and bars, even though neither of those events was a strong suit of mine as a gymnast myself (and that may be why I enjoy coaching them so much). I can relate and understand how hard those events can be... but how much more rewarding when you accomplish a goal! Seeing the excitement on one’s face when they get a new skill is such a special moment I love to share with my athletes!

I’ve been coaching for 7 years now, with over 2 of those years being with Precizion 509. I have coached the hot shots group, advanced 6-8, advanced 9-11, and assisted with compulsory level teams.

In addition to coaching gymnastics, I am a licensed physical therapist assistant. Gymnastics can be intense on the body, and after dealing with my own injuries throughout my gymnastics career, I spent a decent amount of time doing my own physical therapy, which led to my PTA career! Injury prevention is very important to me and is a big part of any sport that needs to be implemented! I want to educate gymnasts and coaches in the importance of these aspects.
